Samsung Joins LG in Manufacturing Dual Mode Next Gen DVD Player

Boom! Samsung has announced the BD-UP5000 (Highly memorable model name) hybrid Blu-ray HD DVD player today that fully supports and integrates the full features of both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD, unlike the LG Super Multi Blue BH-100 player, which only plays HD DVD features.

With a launch price of $1,049 USD, the BD-UP5000 will feature 1080p playback, HDMI 1.3, VC-1, H.264, and HD JPEG decoding.

    If they keep making these one format will never win and it will be DVD+R DVD-R all over again
