Taxi cab drivers in NYC have it bad enough already having to deal with the traffic, the people, and the inability to raise their rates as gasoline fluctuates in price.  That&#039;s $3000+ that they could  spend on their family... kids education, groceries, rent, etc.  It&#039;s not exactly chump change for the working class.</description>
