Be Your Own Webhost

Tired of paying monthly fees to a web host when you can host a server on your home internet connection? The Square One Personal Internet server is a LAN router with a firewall as well as Apache, PHP and MySQL.
Even though the software preloaded on it is powerful, the device sadly isn’t. It has an ARM 922T RISC CPU with only 64MB of RAM which isn’t nearly enough to handle a popular site.
Available for $399

Turn any windows pc into a web server with a few mouse clicks ;)
Chad – I can feel you typing up a screenshot tutorial right now. *wink wink*
um… ever heard of IIS?
Any computer can be turned into a webserver. This is just a cool little gadget that does it and sets up a home network as well.
IIS is icky ;)
It should be noted that many (if not most) home ISPs do not allow you to host websites using the bandwidth. That coupled with most western countries having upload speeds that simply will not cope.
Still a cool looking bit of kit though.
A lot of ISPs forbid this. Unless you’re running a reasonably popular site, they probably won’t find out, but it’s a good idea to check your TOS first.
