Thanks to everyone who emailed me this. Amp’d mobile sent out a text message to their entire user base that they “may” cease operation on July 24 at 12:01am. Amp’d has been unable to secure private debt financing to pay out their debt or to cover the $370,000 in daily network charges to Verizon and will be forced to shutdown.

    They were such a cartoonish wireless provider. Did anyone ever take them seriously trying to be trendy with their “hip” name?

    I’m really surprised that it took as long as it did. Seriously, there’s no chance of staying in business if your target market is known for not paying their bills, ever.
