Imagine ordering a small gizmo on eBay and to your surprise instead of the gizmo, you get a box of cash. Well, thats what happened to a boy in the UK.

Police are trying to trace the owner of 65,400 euros (£44,000) mistakenly sent to a 16-year-old boy who bought a Playstation Two for £95 on eBay. [...] But, if the money remains unclaimed the family could potentially apply for it to be returned to them under the Police Property Act.

Now thats a eBay bargain! I’m just wondering how a shipper could confuse a box of cash with a PS2 or even WHY someone would be shipping a box of cash.

    Ha! That would be great! And why would you even tell anyone?

    Yeha my only question is why on earth did they notify the police in the first place?? Free money (as in beer) is always appreciated!

    I think its great they got in touch with the police…its the right thing to do.

    @Emory:

    While I’d be tempted to keep my mouth shut and take the money, I’d notify the police because I’d be running the risk of the owner of the money coming after me(that money may have been ill-gained). Giving it to the police is the safe and smart thing to do.

    Dude… that’d pay for half of college. I’d keep it.
