A long time customer of the invisibleSHIELD line of products, I was somewhat surprised to receive the email announcement that an iPhone friendly version of the popular film shield was finally available. One of the first things that came to mind when I opened the iPhone was "I hope Shieldzone comes out with something to protect this screen". According to Shieldzone, the full iPhone kit – more specifically the screen protection – will not decrease the performance of the touch screen.

Personally, I think I’m going to forgo the kit this time around due to a number of reports that the iPhone screen is of exceptional quality resisting such abusive treatments as: a) being jostled in a ziploc full of keys, and b) having the face of the phone purposely abused with a single key. Your results may vary of course..

    thats the nature of glass. Try scratching a tempered peice of glass like say at a store, if you see scratches, its probably cuz they have a film on it such as a UV polorizer or something. Take a key to your windshield.

    Gotta update those ipods with glass now.

    Seems as if Apple’s cured their scatchy reputation xP

    @Justin… shame on you :P
    And believe it or not that is one of the biggest plusses I’ve heard for the iphone, regardless however i still won’t get it. It’s useless as a media device. 8 gigs? What a waste of that beautiful screen. I’ve got 150 gigs of videos alone, another 15 of music. What’s the point of having it if i can’t watch at least a fair amount of videos and listen to music? Just seems a waste to me

    you take breaks from being at your home computer where you will be able to watch 150gb of movies and listen to 15gb of music?

    you really are an indecisive person, not a good personality trait.

    Systm did an episode where they took apart the iPhone, and while it didnt survive the 5 foot drop test, it handled some pretty intense scratching attempts with a set of housekeys.

    Video here: http://revision3.com/systm/cracked

    Low drop test at 3:20
    High drop test at 4:00
    Scratch test at 4:25 and 4:40

    FYI, I contacted IS and they told me that only the blue areas are covered, so the shiny silver areas are still prone to getting scratched. Not truly a “full body shield” IMHO.

    You’re far more likely to crack the glass than scratch it.
