So are you waiting in line foe the iPhone? Are you even getting one? Do you think its worth the price? Should we stop mentioning the word? SOUND OFF!

(Thx for the cartoon Jon)

No. I’m happy with my Verizon service, not looking to pay a ton of money on expensive plans and a phone I don’t need, and I don’t want Cingular’s service. Plus I have an iPod Nano.

  2. Frank Cantu says:

If I’m lucky enough, I’ll be getting mine from the online Apple Store the second they’re on. As for the price, it’s okay to me since I’m thinking of it as a replacement to both my prehistoric cell phone, and my severely-beaten iPod (it’s barely alive!).

  3. cynic821 says:

not waiting in line but will get one, its only money.

  4. Ryan says:

    ^ Agree with Cynic821

  5. oswaldo says:

I am already tired of the iPhone.
    Apple now sucks.

  6. Gideon says:

I’m… worn out of the repetitive coverage. I am interested in the news, but I’m sick to death of seeing the same stories over and over and over again from various blogs. The “I’m in line” stories are particularly odious.

I want an iphone.. oh god I want one.. but I’m going to wait until the next model comes out, and the prices drop. 1st gen technology is always a bad idea. Not that the iphone will suck, but when the next one comes out it’ll bite for those that have em now. That price is friggin INSANE WITH A TWO YEAR CONTRACT. I’m willing to put up with a contract when they subsidize my phone, but when its just “ha ha ha! screw you!” That’s another story.

  7. emory says:

No, No, and NO. overhype… move on por favor. I agree with OSWALDO

  8. Ronald Poi says:

Stick with the iPhone news… i like them =)

  9. Rob D says:

Nooooo…I’d rather poke myself in the eye than spend that kind of money on a freaking phone. I don’t even answer the phone in my house…I hate talking on the phone…

  10. Don Wilson says:

Anyone who waits in line for a $500-600 product that they haven’t even touched yet is insanity.

I’m going to wait a few days for the iPhone hysteria to die down at my local Apple store then go check it out in person.

If I like it, I like it.

  11. Enzer Miliard says:

I know I don’t come here often Dan…….. but I still read this……… and the iPhone is just ridiculous…. I think it it cool yes, but in no way is 8 gigabytes worth paying $600 or more on it…. especially in a state where tax is 7.25% and rising…. plus the minimum plan is a MERE sixty dollars…… for the price of the 8 gig player……… I better be getting a free upgrade to at least a 30…… and video playback……. and GPS………… free XM radio………. I want to be able to track other iPhones so I can see where fellow iPhone owners are…….. though at this price……. it’s more like a “steal” if you catch my drift……. I want internet ANYWHERE…… plus AT&T doesn’t even cover where I live…….. I want unrestricted access to the world…….. this thing better launch a nuke…… and come to think of it…… can it also be able to function at 30,000 feet below the surface of the ocean? yeah I’d take that at that price…… course instead we’re getting an AT&T phone, 8 gb of space, the internet (including all that internet related stuff), a video iPod….. hold on let me calculate this up…… OSX=$150 tracfone=$10 8gig hard drive(seagate ST68022U-RK on amazon)=$190, internet service= free through wifi or possible a backhack mod for the tracfone to call another phone that will send you the data but OSX should include everything needed to run the internet anyway, Two nintendo DS (for that double touch screen goodness from amazon $90 each)= $180, wifi card= $52 on ebay so total that’s…… $582 and that’s without finding the cheapest prices…… okay I’m done ranting now……. still a cool device…….. but not a big enough hard drive to justify all the prices in my unprofessional opinion……..

  12. My HTC 8125 can show me my email, let me browse the web, let me watch video, and let me make a phone call. There is no logical reason for me to pay $600 for something that does all of that but doesn’t give me the convenience of a keyboard or the availability of 3rd party apps.

  13. Myke says:

I’m gonna agree with Gideon. Let all the first gen bugs get worked out and the price drop a bit. I think that if the iphone can do what it says it can do (and do it well), then I don’t think the cost is too high. As advertised, its an absolute amazing device especially for those with duct tape on both their cell phone and iPod looking to upgrade and consolidate at the same time.

But thats where the road begins to fork for me. The iPhone has to live up to itself first. Then it’ll land on my wish list.

  14. NAte says:

Our company decided to support it. So someone in our department needs one so that we can provide that support. I am excited for it, but I am tired of seeing every news feed and blog I subscribe to talking about it.

  15. Justin says:

The iPhone is nice…but i’m not giving anyone my number to annoy me with it…so that kinda defeats one of its purposes…hmm..i hear they’re coming out with an iPod like it so I’ll get that.

  16. Brandon says:

I would like to own one yes, but so many people already have phones on contracts and can’t afford the price of it. I do think it will succeed however…. somehow.

  17. Nate says:

I’m with Amp’d Mobile right now, so if I want to keep my number, I’ve gotta switch anyway.
I’ll be in line the moment the local mall opens tomorrow.
I’d already decided to switch to AT&T because I have to transition between a big city where I go to college and the remote country area where my parents live, and AT&T is the only carrier that does both decently.
The iPhone obviously takes mobile web to the next level, and, as a guy who started using mobile internet on iDen, I’ll certainly have no complaints about EDGE.

  18. chad says:

I’m on the fence… i really really really really really like “what it is” but until I get to play with it and see EXACTLY what it is my $600 is staying in my wallet. Tomorrow and about 6PM I will decide when I race to get my hands on a display model.

however, I’m the worse impulse buyer ever… so don’t be surprised if I write up the first Uneasy review on the little puppy in a day or so.

The one thing that does piss me off however is that they have a cure cancer button and a block paris hilton news button but still now Terminal or SSH client….. wtf m8^

  19. roclar says:

I spend the majority of my time in front or at least near a computer. Whenever I am away from The Machines, I like to really be away…no email, web browser, etc. I am not even sure I would have a cell phone powered on when I was out and about were it not for work.

Still I can see why folks who travel, have long commutes on public transportation or are otherwise separated from the machines for long intervals are excited about the iPhone and other mobile devices that have similar capabilities.

So in short, no I won’t be getting one but keep posting as I find the hype surrounding it interesting. And no ssh client? Ugh.

  20. Hax says:

I tend to loose my cellphones… so I’m not even considering.
Let alone the iPhone isn’t even announced yet in Germany afaik.

But I’d like to try it out sometimes.

  21. Derek says:

No. It is over-hyped, doesn’t support 3G, only has 8GB of space. Not to mention I hate iTunes…

  22. dave says:

i’d love one, but not until its 3G and has GPS. That Seafood commercial was such a tease… Wait, you mean it tells me whats closest to my current location? Oh wait…

  23. Jerry says:

How long before the first story of scratched/broken screens?

    I say Monday…

  24. Alan Rager says:

What’s the point of an internet phone that needs wifi to get online at decent speeds? The thing costs exorbitantly more than any EDGE and EVDO enabled smartphone out there, and the touch screen is merely novelty. I’ll pass on this. I’ve heard of paying a premium for Apple’s products, but this is just insane.

    Do not want.

  25. JJ says:

I already have a phone, why should I care?

  26. Kimbakat says:

If I can get in a FIREWIRE 100GB+ HD..for all my movies and music and backup data! THEN YES..it will combine my phone and iPod. (I use my iPod for Music, Movie, backup of data from work and home AND boot to do diagnostics!!)

Now I’m ready to drop $500

  27. Stephen says:

I have need for neither a cellphone nor an iPod separately, so I think I can skip the combination as well.

  28. Marc says:

Not getting one today…but I will get one probably when v2 comes out.

  29. Justin says:

They make it sound like this will reinvent the way you’ll live…but that’s Apple for ya.

“Our products are way better than anyone elses. And they’re shiny too!”

  30. tihopilik says:

    Hello

I can’t be bothered with anything these days, but shrug. I just don’t have anything to say recently.

    Bye

  31. cyclamen says:

sounds like some good reasoning..but really..you know you ALL freaking want one.

    get over it.
