TorrentSpy, one of the world’s largest torrent sites, has been ordered by a federal judge, Jacqueline Chooljian, to monitor its users, without consent, in order to create detailed logs of their activities which must then be handed over to the MPAA.

But before you start deleting your caches the decision was arrived at last month but under seal and the MPAA has stated that they will start to track the actions of TorrentSpy’s visitors.

Although no data has seemingly changed hands TorrentSpy has decided that it would turn off access to the U.S. before tracking its users.

    Good thing I switched to Demonoid a few months ago.

    Don, now all you need to do is to worry about your ISP tracking what you’re downloading. *cough* [I heard] about someone who had downloaded a movie off of Demonoid that received a letter from Comcast – a slap on the wrist saying that they had noticed xxxxxxx xxx having been downloaded from http://demonoid.com *cough*

    Private trackers do not guarantee much more “protection” from being caught.

    i have a demonoid account but i would rather download from pirates bay… some people say thats a stupid move… but i really dont think it is…

    demonoid might fold and cave under pressure we have seen how pirate bay acts and responds to things

    the worlds largest and most known and pry the safest in the most unsafe way

    I’m pretty sure your ISP cant tell what file your downloading.
    To them its all just random data being set to you from a bunch of IP addresses.
    Unless they could sniff it all, and then compile what they copied and then looked at it.

    @Anon

    Yep, they can. And they know the site as well, your IP, and every dirty little link you clicked on. They know how long it took you to make a decision on Googles search page to many time you checked out the screaming Paris Hilton video. Heck, if you aren’t on SSL for every page, then anyone in the world can find out what file you downloading. Most of us don’t care because we’re hiding in plain sight.
