The remote control outlet is a simple way to add remote controlled power functionality to devices that don’t have it. The adaptor, on command, cuts power to anything that is plugged in to the socket and up to 4 outlets can be controlled by one remote. Available for $19.98 for the starter kit while additional outlets are only $9.98 each.

For larger tech items we recommend the PowerKey Pro that allows you to reset devices by telephone.

We got something like this a few years back for our family room lamp. Seems to work fine, but it tends to turn itself on and off on occassion… We can’t tell if its due to radio signals, something else that’s wireless, or if we just got haunted by our grandmother… either way, its pretty useful to have if you’re lazy.

I’ve got a aviosys IP9258 remote controlled power outlet with a webserver so I can log in over the internet and restart my webserver, or just start the tv or whatever! =)
