Last.fm Goes Corporate: CBS Buys for $280 million

It’s .com fever all over again. CBS corp has just purchased Last.fm (probably so no one else does) for $280 million in cash. Even though Last.fm is now corporate owned, not much is going to change.
The Last.fm team will continue to run the online network under the terms of the deal and work with CBS to apply their community-building and technology expertise to extend CBS businesses online, it said.
Hopefully, “expertise to extend CBS businesses online” does not translate to CSI episodes being shoved everywhere on the site.

Another site lost to the big rich bitches…. How sad.
Well, according to the deal the site will pretty much be run the same as it has before. This seems like a great deal for Last.fm because they were looking to add more music and video content to their site.
Last fm was good because of the music. Why mess up this light app with video. Now it will be slow and clunky . I hope they leave it alone.
