XM Ground Repeaters Down

After much futzing with my XM radio and a few calls to Delphi it seems that XM is having some major satellite issues. Reportedly one of their satellites (”Rock” – “Roll” is fine) is not transmitting anything to XM’s network of over 800 ground repeaters. XM reports the service should be restored within two hours, or so.

Also, Did you know that you can download a Google Earth overlay of the entire XM ground repeater network? Kinda Cool!

    I’ve been discouraged enough by XM in the last year or so, that after being a subscriber for over 4 years, I haven’t listened to it but maybe once or twice a week lately.

    I guess if today had been one my listening days, I would’ve had yet another reason for disappointment.

    I’m hopefully on my last “free” 3 months that was given to me by the sales rep when I tried to cancel service. So far I’ve gotten 6 months of radio service totally free from their attempts to keep me as a subscriber, but it hasn’t changed my mind. The programming on my favorite channels has been absolutely shitty for a while now, while Sirius’ comparative channel programming kicks ass. Go figure.

    I’ll just take my business over to Sirius after the free sub goes away, and skip these 3 XM receivers that I have across the pond.

    Rant = over
