T-Mobile Wing Unboxed

I hate to admit it, but the T-Mobile Windows Mobile 6 powered "Wing" is hot! After checking out some of the unboxing pics over at BGR, I can’t help but want it! Now I need to look into whether or not this device can be unlocked to play nicely with Cingular, ergh I mean "the new AT&T". The device will set you back $499 w/o contract, $299 with.

Having played a bit with this device, I can say it’s a huge upgrade over T-Mo’s MDA. I’m not entirely sold on the shade of blue, but the slide mechanism is awesome and the keyboard is decent. Lack of 3G may be an issue for some in the market for a device like this. The Treo 750 is still my favorite flavor of PPC (also produced by HTC) and should only get better with WM6. If only Palm would give me one.

How is the better then the PPC-6700?

It’s much more “modern” than the 6700. It’s a sleeker look, the case is slightly rubberized (sort of like the Dash), button placements are OK, there’s no antenna, and the sliding mechanism is much improved. But again, we’re talking 2.5G here, whereas the 6700 was 3G. I believe the Wing’s camera has higher resolution (2mp) than the 6700, but I don’t recall. I also believe it’s the same slower 200mhz processor as the MDA. Cingular’s 8525 (3G) is the best of this form factor, though the Wing will have WM6 now whereas 8525 owners must wait.

Alright people. This is the best PDA/Phone ever. Since I bought it, I have done noting but tweek and configure everything. I know the wing inside and out. (P.S. sim2= 5678 for unlocking) I have seen people install I-phone skins onto it. look’s nice but Come on, have some self respect! This blows that crapintosh away! Why tarnish its beauty? I have over clocked it to 286 MHz (pocket Hack Master) 2 GB Micro SD card (&1 GB keychain with USB 2.0 adapter for backup). Bluetooth GPS (nice for windows live) Pocket launcher, CeIpconfig, Tracert, Core Player, WinampCE, gfDoom (of corse ALL of the Oldschool wad’s) Morph Gear, (with Gens, NES, SMS Rocking emu rator for those times to play some games foo) Pocket quake, (of corse) sitting all in a hard carbon fiber case. It’ s nice to have at the gym cus I wear my wireless Bluetooth headphones with it. Hey ,look I know I’m a nerd, but you gota have style kid. If you don’t have one, GO GET ONE!!! You will know what I’m taking about. Hit me up with your wing bitches. Trent
