  • TV Evangelist Jerry Falwell Dies at 73: The Rev. Jerry Falwell collapsed at his campus office and died Tuesday after a career in which the evangelist used the power of television to transform the religious right into a mighty force in American politics. He was 73.
  • YouTube wants meeting with U.S. military on Web ban: YouTube is chafing at being one of 13 Web sites now off limits on the computer networks used by U.S. military personnel.
  • Cruise ship runs aground off Alaska: A cruise ship struck a reef off the coast of Alaska early Monday, forcing the evacuation of 248 passengers before being freed and heading to port, the US Coast Guard said.
  • Senators Told of Future High Gas Prices: The U.S. is likely to face several more years of high gasoline prices as refining capacity is expected to remain tight in the years ahead, a panel of high-ranking witnesses warned the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Tuesday.
