Apple updates the MacBook line

Nothing like a little Tuesday Apple hardware update to brighten-up the rest of the week. Check out the latest updates from Apple which include a processor speed bump for the base MacBook line. The low-end white MacBook (1.83) has received a kick in the pants up to 2.0 GHz or 2.16 Ghz while the black version receives the 2.16 update as well.
As of this posting, the front page of the Apple Store is down but if you visit the MacBook page directly [via], you’ll see the revised hardware. Personally, if these are the updates (no updates on the Pro line – yet), I’m feeling a little left out. So who ran and grabbed their wallet tot purchase?
If I still had my iBook, I would certainly move to this model. I did buy the Core2Duo the day it was released.
I’m a little surprised.
No Santa Rosa Chipset
No updated GMA chip w/ dedicated Vram
No increased battery life
No faster Front Side Bus (santa rosa)
I was also hoping they’d keep the 1.8GHz around for a 900 dollar model just as an option.
sigh, apple never ceases to disappoint specially since we don’ t have any Mac mini updates either.
I’d like to see the previous 1.83 show up in the sale section for lower than $900.
Very unspectacular updates. However, I would not expect an ultraportable or anything else groundbreaking in a non-circus-like atmosphere. However, my 9 month old Macbook CD is feeling old. Not even a year old and 2 updates. :(
I would assume they are holding out the Santa Rosa for the flagship Macbook Pro and that will probably happen at WWDC. I guess they do not expect to stick the Santa Rosa in the Macbooks for another 6 months or so, otherwise this is an unnecessary update.
I don’t know if it is all the rumors surrounding Apple updates or I just expect better and better things out of Apple, but I just have not been ‘amazed’ by hardware/software updates in the last few years.
While it’s not the best update, it’s still better than what was available before.
The update allowed me to order one. I was waiting for the little updated expected, and hoped that they wouldn’t change too much so that it won’t have any new flaws.
Great. I bought my MacBook about 2/3 weeks ago, and they come out with a new model! I wish they had some sort of schedule that says what exactly they’re up to…
