Another typing test, I’m faster than you!

OK, so I may not be as fast as some of the UNEASY readers, but I can never resist trying typing tests whenever one comes my way. I know there are some peckers out there – you know, people who peck away at the keys one finger (one key) at a time. I also know there are typists out there that could probably touch type on two different keyboards on the table with each hand. Note that once you place your cursor in the text area, the timer begins.

I clocked in at at 90 wpm and 420 cpm. What are you? Try it out for yourself and report back with the result. Remember, it’s not how fast you type, but how many errors aren’t registered.

  1. 93.41 wpm, 423.75 cpm. and that’s with two small errors.

    44 wpm and 408 cpm…with 7 mistakes….eh…im fast enough for me…

Wow! Your typing speed (with 3 mistakes) is:

    125.47 wpm
    532.5 cpm

That was first attempt. I’ll try a few more times and see how it goes. I can typically hit more than 140 wpm with no mistakes. That is what happens when you went to a private school, and they made you do an hour of type training on a weekly basis starting in 2nd grade.

  4. Brad says:

Wow, I hit 125 wpm and 542 cpm. But I think the test is really way too short to be accurate. Give me more text to write and I inevitably type slower because I make more errors that I need to go back and fix.

  5. Bill I says:

    121.02 wpm / 513.6 cpm with 1 mistake.

I posted the picture to my tumblelog as proof :)

My best on my 12 inch powerbook was 75 (usually around 60), I tried it on a desktop and got over 100 the first try. My guess is that people with 120+ wpm are doing it on a desktop keyboard. Ill keep this in mind next time I need to do some programming:)

  9. John says:

no chad…i suck…the guy on a powerbook did almost twice as better as me…but i just dont care…

  10. Anthony says:

    So…normally I score 70wpm….I got 98wpm on my first try with 6 mistakes….

I think this one is a little high. And everyone else’s sounds higher then normal as well.

  14. Dogcow says:

the test with “that that” always screws me up

  15. Justin says:

    80.78 with 3 mistakes..

  19. padde says:

If you want to be serious about typing fast, you should consider switching to Colemak – http://www.colemak.com

It took me 3 weeks to regain my QWERTY-speed, and now I type around 40% faster with Colemak than QWERTY

  20. Dogcow says:

I’m actually trying Colemak right now, but not necessarily for speed but rather to distribute typing stress and create a mental challange.

  21. Radeon512 says:

I’m proud seeing as most keys on my keyboard are loose
