Canoeist paddle to save woman, fined $85
I understand that the law requires any persons on a boat, canoe, etc are required to have life jackets, but fining these canoeists $85 because they did not have any despite rescuing a woman who had jumped off a bridge is just assinite.
Canoeist Dennis Bohrn and his companions were stunned when they saw a woman jump off the Perrine Bridge, her body landing near them in the Snake River. Many in the group were crying by the time they managed to reach the woman and paddle her body to shore.
So Bohrn was shocked when an officer walked up and instead of thanking or comforting the group last Sunday, wrote out a couple of $85 tickets for failing to have life jackets on board either of the two canoes.
Feel free to use the comments and share what you would have done if fined for missing life jackets after saving a womans life.

thats totally insane… i would pry want drowned the cop
also.. anyone remember waht that site is that has the browser in the browser?? i know it was posted here a long little while ago?
It’s like I always say – People Suck! If it were me the officer would be going for a dip need saving himself.
The officer doesn’t have to enforce Class C misdemeanors they overlook these things all the time he had the option to give warnings if he had to give anything. He is just being a “Richard Head”.
I feel the officer was completely right, but picked poor timing. Because these “rescuers” (who may have little to no canoeing or water rescuing experience) didn’t have life vests, they are putting themselves in a dangerous situation of rescuing a body. I have no idea about the conditions of the area but regardless if they had failed in the rescue, its potentially 2 more deaths to worry about. Rescue is no excuse for recklessness.
It sounds like the canoe just happened to be floating near where the body fell and they just basically pulled it to shore.
In any event, that deputy sounds like a heartless jerk for not looking the other way on this one.
smash!!!
Thinkin of Bitty Browser?…
Anyway I would of ripped that ticket right there in front of the officer
That cop should find a new line of work, hes on a power trip, and hes and ass to boot.
Wow can you believe it?
The Charged a man with BE right after he saved the life of the person
who he was robbing.
Turns out that old Mr Henderson eats to much at night and just happened
to start choking on some left over KFC in the kitchen.
Our brave hero herd a noise and a man choking while he was in the living room
loading up on a new big screen tv and decided to go check it out.
And yet the police want to charge the “suspect”
What an outrage, don’t you you think the law should work so that people who do good things get to do bad things in order to balance out the universe?
Frigging Hippies
Why don’t you go drive a woman in labor with out a seatbelt on. While drinking behind the wheel.
You break the law, you break the law.

hopefully we can let the sheriff’s office know what the digg effect is about
“TWIN FALLS — Two canoeists who were given two $85 tickets for not carrying life jackets as they recovered a suicide victim’s body Sunday from the Snake River have had their citations dismissed.
The Twin Falls County prosecutor declined to file cases today against Dennis Bohrn and Michael Futrell, both of whom were cited with failing to carry a personal flotation device.”
Sorta happy ending…
oops.. I was late on that they didn’t mention the town so a search didn’t catch it ..
