Have an ordinary “dumb phone” but want fancy “smart phone” features, like email? We can help!FlipMail is a free service by Teleflip which allows you to send and receive email via text messages (and you should have unlimited texting since ALL US carriers have it!). There is no download required, and the service works with any US cell phone. All you need to know is your email address and account password and you are good to go.

Yes, I should have unlimited text messaging, seeing as though it’s barely kilobytes per month of data versus many magnitudes more for voice, but I’m sure as hell not paying $20 extra a month just to send maybe 100KB of data.
For me, it’s a principle. It’s like restaurants not making tap water available, just so they can gouge you on bottled water.
I have T-Mobile and Gmail. I do just this by having Gmail forward my emails to my phone. No need for a third party to get involved…
