"only 8 of the 16 exits used" So fine, let's say everyone moves and/or reacts HALF that fast but all the exits are used. That's still 77 seconds. Then let's say they move even 1/2 of that speed. That's still 2 and 1/2 mins to get everyone out. If there's a fire in the cabin, people will most likely die of smoke inhalation. I'm not sure how much time it takes for someone to go unconscious from this, but I 2.5 min is enough to get a majority of people out.

I have to agree with Alex on the German’s screaming and shoving people out of an airplane bit, but I would perfer hearning the “The Ride of the Valkyries”
from “Die Walkure” than the background music they used.

Germans screaming and pretty much pushing people off a plane… why am I not surprised? But nice evacuation speed test :-)

Every time I have flown there has been lots of less than perfect passengers on the flight. That flight looked like it only had average adults on it. On a flight with 800+ people you can be sure that there will be lots of kids, elderly and handicapped passengers.

Now that is a evac speed test i want to see.

77 seconds is pretty good… but in a real situation, if all the air stewards were screaming like that, it would be a total panic and would make a horrible turn for the worse.
