I wouldn't just call the design plain and uninspiring. I would say it's ugly.

The N75 certainly has an excellent feature set that makes it ideal for a traveling power user. However, I have to say I'm a bit disappointed with the industrial design which is rather uninspiring and plain. In the wake of the iPhone, I hope mobile phone makers wise up to making their phones as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside.

Industrial design, not just features, make products a joy to use. I look forward to a time when all these companies recognize its not just the bullet-point feature lists or advertising that makes a product. It's the little things.
