Whew, i didn’t want this to turn into a debate over who’s network is the best. I’m not “worried about Cingular”. I’m just saying thats what Consumer Reports had to say about it. I actually have consumer reports to look at reviews for HDTV’s and i saw that article on their homepage..

In all honestly people can love their networks to their own degree, the thing that comes down to it is, does it work in your area? If yes, choose this network, If no, choose another. In my area Cingular isn’t the best. That’s why i have Verizon. Some people i know swear by Tmobile, Tmobile in my area is probably the worst, unless you live directly off a major highway.

If verizons so good the why do you read the consumer reports and are so worried about cingular.

The dropped calls only come from my friend who uses Cingular/AT&T my calls are never dropped when i talk to my friends on Verizon’s network. The calls that are dropped are from my house, and i’ve never had trouble talking to anyone but my friend with Cingular. Who knows, maybe he’s in the boonies where NO provider gets great coverage.

Consumer Reports actually is upset with Cingular for insinuating that they are the “leading independent research company” as talked about in the commercials. And they don’t agree with Cingular’s statement of the fewest dropped calls:

“Unless you’re unusually adept at tuning out TV commercials, skipping over newspaper ads, and averting your eyes from billboards, you’ve probably seen Cingular’s recent claim about being the carrier with “the fewest dropped calls.” You may also have noticed that Cingular attributed its claim to “the leading independent research company”–which had even people who work here at Consumer Reports wondering whether Cingular might have meant us. For the record, it was not us. In fact, our own surveys have found Cingular to be only about average when it comes to dropped calls and one of the poorer performers in terms of overall satisfaction. That probably wouldn’t make much of an ad claim, though, would it?”

T-Mobile unlimited txt, pix, and flix for $14.99/Month.

Very happy as well with extremely few dropped calls. Works well anyplace in my house including the basement.

Only thing I could ask for really is a better selection of phones.

Well Jeffery i have two thing to say.
First of all with Verizon the text messaging is only unlimited to VERIZON customers. So if you text a lot of people outside of verizon you don’t have unlimited. They try to get the customers to get people to switch just to have the unlimited mobile to mobile. AT&T’s UPGRADE is to ALL networks nots just AT&t. Maybe thats why the tone is much more positive.
Second of all maybe you get dropped calls with your friend because of YOUR cell phone. I have Cingulat and never get dropped calls. I have been all around the world with my Cingular phone and it has worked. From Alaska to Japan and more, I haven’t had any problems.

The only negative reference I see in the Verizon post here is about their problems stemming from the “unlimited” data plan. Other than that, they’re pretty equal.

I recently switched from Verizon to Cingular simply because Cingular has better coverage in my area. I used to have to step outside to make or receive calls (hard in the winter months let me tell you), and with Cingular I can talk fine from the couch. Verizon’s CSR’s though were pretty nice when I told them I wanted to cancel my service without ETF due to the increase in text messaging fees.

I love how your tone with AT&T’s upgrade to unlimited messaging is so much more positive than Verizon’s announcement … I have Verizon, love it, won’t switch even for iphone (even if i did have $500 laying around)
And as far as their “fewest dropped calls” goes… my friend who has AT&T gets dropped from my calls all the time..
