Sorry, stole the title from Eddie Izzards “Cake or Death” bit, but this video CLAIMS that to cut glass all you need is water and scissors.

So. Real or Fake?

Real… but you get better results with tin snips.

Well, if you google a bit http://www.google.ca/search?q=cut+glass+in+water&hl=fr&btnG=Rechercher

You know it is indeed true :)

I wonder if they’re just trying to get thousands of bored kids hand cuts.

It looks cool, but I see lines in it. It’s called Ply-A-Ware, a strong, yet brittle plastic thats get mailed into people, while it’s very thick. It often get’s confused with glass. Or it could be safety glass, often used in movies. It’s sort of like glass and plastic.

Then it could be true. Maybe it is. Oh well. Good trick, and I found it very amusing. But Summer Vacation is for wiping glass outdoors on a swing.

The claim that it helps avoid the high frequency resonance seems to be supported by all the tiny ripples in the water…

Yeah, you know if he’s really cutting glass with those scissors that a finger could get lopped off pretty easily.

Well glass gets very brittle when heated, then it an crack if it gets water on it. And as far as the lines go, the entire video had lies on it– look at the guy’s hand!

Well it sorta works, but mine didn’t come out nearly as well as the one in the video. I think if I had nicer scissors, & maybe deeper water it might have went more smoothly. Now i’m going to try the burning string method.
