didn’t they try something like this with mirrors on myth busters and had very poor success… salmonella here I come!!

It looks like a bench, and I would probably mistake it as one. Afterward, my skin would melt.

On MythBusters I think they were trying to make a Death Ray, among other things, but they did not had a BBQ in mind.

i actually built a device like this for a science project….i was able to achieve great success by being able to fully heat a hotdog safe to eat in under 18 minutes. even though my cooker was smaller it uses the same idea of focusing the sun’s beams to a single focus point. i built it myself using cheap plywood, plastic mirror, a drill, some dowels to hold the mirrors in place, and it all cost under $50

I had to do something like this for the last year at the university. We spent the whole morning under the sun trying to make the damn prototype to cook something, and of course, it didn´t work.
But some other people in my class had better (skills) luck and actually fried eggs… and my calification too…

I have a solar oven which is a commercially
manufactured unit by a company from Illinois.
I’ve baked bread and cooked with it sucessfully. Everyting takes twice as long to cook so crockpot
type recipes work best. Its quite good. Got it as part of survival preparedness, just in case, and for camp cooking.
