iPhone iBattery iSucks?
John Dvorak, who isn’t the biggest iPhone supporter to start with, is reporting that someone inside of Cingular leaked to him that the iPhone has “lots of issues.”
The first in the laundry list of of complaints is the device not not having a removable battery, giving the phone LESS THEN 40 minutes total talk time. WTF?! Oh and he also says that the touch screen also “fouls up constantly.”
These are all concerns that I raised the second when the iPhone was announced in the two and a half hour waste of a Macworld keynote. I think Dvoraks rumors will prove to be true - just you watch.

You know, you could just wait until the product is released to decide what is true and what is not.
Instead you’ve already made up your mind on heresay and someone who you admit already has a bias. He even has admitted that some (or all, depending on who you talk to) is written to deliberately incur the wrath of the fanatical Macintosh community to drive up his views (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOHzHVF-4Mg).
You are no better than the fanboys that think this is the second coming of Christ encased in polycarbonate. Is this what passes for quality blogging these days?
Let’s wait until the damn product’s release until we make any conclusions. Oh, but that doesn’t help on a slow news day - does it?

PETER, you offer a lot of condemnation for speculation, which makes up about 80% of technology blog content. Perhaps you are not the intended audience?

It is a HORRIBLY slow news day - Can’t Bill Gates sue the Google people who bought Adobe which was acquired by Apple?! NO, why could those lucky things ever happen to me?

WHAT!? A pre-production demonstator with problems? Heck my Rev A 12″ PowerBook is still running after my kid dropped it 3 feet to a wood floor. I busted the screen and replaced it myself, the thing’s been taken apart 11 times for various tweeks and upgrades, fan replacement, etc. Bang out the dents I say and get back to work.
I’ve replaced the battery in my G3 iPod. I replaced the drive and memory in a Rev A Mac mini. Nothing is perfect the first time around.
My pre-production web site code is buggy as hell and I’m rewriting chucks of it because the Scope Creep made me do it. Doesn’t mean the final product will suck.
I’m writing this on a whiney MacBook Pro. I love it despite the little faults and I am happy with it, warts and all, just like my last buggy Apple product: the wonderfully portable 12″ Powerbook.
I recommend avoiding new products. DON’T BUY AN IPHONE, unless you can’t wait of course, then love it for its faults.

Only 40 minutes of total talk time?
Hmm… I don’t think that can be true… imagine how many mac fans will be pissed off if this is true… if it’s true, then the iPhone is the next Newton…

hmmm…. Microsoft has had 3+ years in the market and still can’t seem to get it right.
Apple has only had zero years in the market and already people are whining about how they might fail… sounds like sour grapes.
Maybe when the iPhone is finally released, then Microsoft will finally having a quality product to copy.

Okay, first of all I just want to say that people like Dvorak don’t know what the fuck they’re talking about. I believe all that was said in that “article” is false. Then again, I haven’t tried out an iPhone yet, being that I’m not important enough and not a member of the press. I will be getting one of these BEAUTIFUL pieces of equipment once they release (I’m on Cingular/ATT already so don’t start bitching about that.). Dan, I assume you were attempting to be funny. Roy what the hell are YOU saying? Both Microsoft and Apple have 30+ years in the business. True, this will Apple’s first time in the phone business, but when has Microsoft directly been in it? Are you referring to Windows Mobile on phones? I agree with Peter. Just because it’s a new product doesn’t mean it’ll suck. To those of you that think that the iPhone will only have 40 minutes of talk time then please read http://www.apple.com/iphone/technology/specs.html. Look at the battery section. I don’t see how you can claim 40 minutes when they have the offcial times listed right there. Come on people. Do your research before you start such posts on such a site as UNEASYsilence. It’s past midnight and I don’t have any more energy to rant about this. Sooo.. goodnight.
