Apple does what everyone anticipated and releases an 8-core upgrade option for their top-of-the-line Mac Pro line. Heavy graphics and video editing professionals rejoice as the Mac Pro now screams "Pro". The upgrade comes at a price. The standard Xeon Dual-core is still available pushing $2,500. Pushing two 3.0 GHz Quad Cores will set you back an extra $1,500 on top of the original $2,500.

I wish i had enough reason to buy just one quad or 8 core. My iMac 20″ has fulfill all my need :D

At last I can open two heavy Myspace pages simultaneously whithout interrupting itunes background playback!

On a more serious note, my MacBook core duo is already OTT powerwise for my needs. Two 1080p h264 files playing at the same time can’t peg the processor.. I really don’t know what it’ll take for me to switch in the future.
I don’t really play games, photos every now and then, video playback and voila.

Even financial modelling (my job) doesn’t peg my aging dual Xeon all that much

ooh if i got one a those, i’d trick it out so i wouldn’t have to buy one for another 20 years =P
