Potential OS X Parallels customers, don’t buy retail

Reports on the Parallels discussion forums cite pesky issues concerning activation keys. Customers report not being able to activate their copies due to the serial numbers not working with non-localized versions. One users response to the localization issue raises an eyebrow as to why the process is being handled in such a manner. International users are not happy.

I was very happy when I heard that the final Parallels build (3186) is available for download. However, I cannot activate this product with my activation key (which requires, I think, a localized Parallels version).

Has anyone of you had the same experience? Any German / French / etc. users who could activate this product?

This reminds of the fact that it has been years since I last purchased productivity software off the shelf. Does anyone still do?

I suppose I am lucky considering I am in the US and don’t have this issue, however I purchased my copy way back in mid beta.
