Proof that something is wrong with America

Something is wrong with America when injured troops – with ailments and problems that could be further worsened with additional military activity – are being sent back to Iraq for service.

“This is not right,” said Master Sgt. Ronald Jenkins, who has been ordered to Iraq even though he has a spine problem that doctors say would be damaged further by heavy Army protective gear. “This whole thing is about taking care of soldiers,” he said angrily. “If you are fit to fight you are fit to fight. If you are not fit to fight, then you are not fit to fight.”

As the military scrambles to pour more soldiers into Iraq, a unit of the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Benning, Ga., is deploying troops with serious injuries and other medical problems, including GIs who doctors have said are medically unfit for battle. Some are too injured to wear their body armor, according to medical records.

If true, I dare anyone to justify sending troops with serious injuries from war back into the firefight. Anyone?

    Yeah anyone?

I don’t understand how troops can be given the OK to go back to war. What kind of procedures do we have in place?!

Ehh… I could go one for days.

maybe its karma punishment for the soldiers for joining up with the army during a war time to go and kill some innocent people, tease them with rations and push their cars off the road?

    i do DARE!

Maybe it’s a means to cut down long term medical cost. They prefer you die there with honours than having to take care of you at home for a long time with medical bills running high.

    Good enough justification?

I don’t condone to it at all. It is wrong, shouldn’t and mustn’t be the case where injured or unfit soldiers go to battlefield. My archers and hunters will die! (Warcraft III)

    Totally unacceptable!

    I hate the war

“including GIs who doctors have said are medically unfit for battle.”
So how is a soldiers uniform ‘medically unfit for battle’?

Considering the fact that a soldier’s job is to fight a war, it doesn’t make any sense that if he/she gets hurt, they’re immediately off the hook. When they enlisted, they knew all the risks involved, including the very probable possibility of getting injured or killed. By enlisting, any war our country gets itself into becomes their responsibility. If a person were to break an arm in any other profession, they would go to the doctor, stay out of work for a few days, and head right back to work with some sort of adjustments to their routine to compensate for the lack of an arm.

I’m not saying that those soldiers who are missing body parts should be thrown back into fighting. These soldiers are the same ones who pride themselves as being the toughest of the tough, as part of the best army in the world. It’s in these sorts of situations where they should prove it.

    Cynic, you are a jackass.

And I certainly am not endorsing or even condoning the action of re-deploying those individuals, but you ask for a justification…and it is simple…necessity. Regardless of whether or not you agree with the war, or whether or not the Generals in charge of mandating re-deployment are for or against the war…there are directives that have been passed down, and they must fulfill those directives one way or another.

Let’s not turn this into a referandum on the war itself, which is all too easy considering the current state of affairs.

    “medic, need medic..” :D
seriously, I wouldn’t die for any retard political reason..
and wars are started by selfish political reasons since there are wars..
and since leaders commanding from behind their army, it just got worst..

I hate to sound like a prick.. and I have buddies in the armed forces.. one of them was banged up from an IED and after a week of RR sent back into the field.

Although it is a very complicated situation realistically they only have 2 options

    1. Reuse Injured Soldiers
    2. The Draft

…. number 1 doesn’t seem so bad when placed in that context. However I don’t condone the war nor the reuse of injured soldiers, but I don’t condone the use of perfectly healthy soldiers either… however gotta do what ya gotta do, and despite some of the others above should this country request my service although I disagree with the war I would be fighting I would basically be turning my back on not only my country but all of the others who are out there fighting for it if I refused to fight… so basically if they said “either you fight, or your friend dies” … I’ll fight

I don’t want the draft, or war, or injured or healthy soldiers to fight for any of the causes we are fighting for at the moment… but like I said above… gotta do what ya gotta do

  10. chad says:

ahem… sorry I got carried away let me put that in internet for everyone

this war is noob, bush is a douche, and the jihad are a bunch of lamer trolls

    ;)

  11. Alan Rager says:

Ugh. If it wasn’t bad enough that soldiers went back for fourth, fifth, and sixth terms over there, fighting until completely disabled or killed, they’ve decided that disabled vets have to go back. I support my troops. I want them home.

  12. Leroy Brown says:

    Re: cynic821
If you don’t like the war, blame the politicians who made the poor choice to “invent” a war. The soldiers are the last people in the world you should blame.. these are simply people who choose to serve their country by defending it. When the politicians in charge make poor decisions about when / how to use the soldiers, it is the politicians who are at fault, NOT ever the soldiers.

Remember, if not for the US military and it’s soldiers, our country would not exist today. We would all be speaking German.
