Mobile phones are more and more holding more important data, and backing up this information is more and more important. Verizon Wireless has a contacts backup application, but what about all your pictures and videos? Segates Dave is a dedicated 10GB or 20GB mobile phone drive. It will feature Bluetooth, Wi-fi and a USB port to transfer data between Dave to your phone. Not slated to be released until the end of the year, I can see this drive being a HUGE seller and a estimated price of $200.
My phone has bluetooth… but my PC doesn’t. So if it conects to the PC through USB (so that I can double backup, why not :D) then count me in
Thats a great idea. I just had a friend who’s phone was rendered useless after being dropped into a puddle. She lost all her photos, contacts videos etc. She coulda used something like this.
Damn shame verizon disables the OBEX in their mobile phones, dave
The people who are /willing/ to spend $200 for a backup device like this most likely already use a real backup option: syncing with your computer, be it through a USB cable or bluetooth dongle (which is far, far, far cheaper than $200).
Good idea, way too expensive. Should’ve been solid state.
spell seagate right … its seagate not segate!
