Typography at it’s finest… NSFW
Being an ex art school student I spent many hours studying the art of Typography… be it expressing emotion or using color and spacing to convey a meaning, been there done that. If I would have had a professor show me this clip at the introduction of a class I think I would have completely changed that way I thought about and used typography in the months of projects that would follow. With that in mind I officially give this the “Best Use of Typography Ever” award from yours truly.

i second that…. does anyone know what was used to create this? it looks very nice!
third, fourth, fifth or nth
I’m not positive but I’m going to go out on a limb and say after effects or maybe maya but I’m leaning towards after effects
it’s all after effects.
Allow me to retort: God damn. That was perfect to the T.
awesome
excellent
Certainly one of the best quotes of pulp fiction.
“Marsellius Wallace don’t like to be fucked by anybody except Mrs. Wallace”
Yeap, it’s made in After Effects
@R031E5
my personal favorite
“Say what again mother fucker, I dare ya, I double dare ya say what one more god damn time”
which is preceded by my second favorite quote
“What ain’t no country I ever heard of, do they speak English in what?”
and last but not least
“Vincent: Whoa!
Jules: What the fuck’s happening, man? Ah, shit man!
Vincent: Oh man, I shot Marvin in the face.
Jules: Why the fuck did you do that!
Vincent: Well, I didn’t mean to do it, it was an accident!
Jules: Oh man I’ve seen some crazy ass shit in my time…
Vincent: Chill out, man. I told you it was an accident. You probably went over a bump or something.
Jules: Hey, the car didn’t hit no motherfucking bump.
Vincent: Hey, look man, I didn’t mean to shoot the son of a bitch. The gun went off. I don’t know why.
Jules: Well look at this fucking mess, man. We’re on a city street in broad daylight here!
Vincent: I don’t believe it.
Jules: Well believe it now, motherfucker! We gotta get this car off the road! You know cops tend to notice shit like you’re driving a car drenched in fucking blood.”
I am a current art school student, and i think this rocks. I am a huge fan of After Effects and I am amazed by the cooness here. I love it. I am currently in an internship working on After Effects graphics for MTV shows like Bam’s Unholy Union, so if you see something like this on MTV don’t be surprised ;-P
by the way, the link to the guy’s website is on the iFilm page, but the link left out a “t” in his first name. He has some cool videos. … but to be honest. I can do this kind of stuff in After Effects easily… my mind is just not creative enough to think up such things :-P
@Alex B
Same here, it’s not the technical merit that impresses me, it’s the creativity and originality
I highly recommend a book called “Moving Type”
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Moving-Type-Designing-Digital-Design/dp/2880463696
It goes into some detail with regards to animating intonation. It also has many great examples, though not quite as nice as this piece.
