Microsoft Will Donate Money to Charity for Every IM sent – Yes It’s Real

Nope this isn’t the classic “Bill Gates will give you money for forwarding this email” scam, this is a legitimate effort by Microsoft to donate money to several selected charities for even IM you send.
Choose from stopglobarwarming.org, the National AIDS Fund, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, UNICEF, ninemillion.org, the American Red Cross, or Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Add a text code and each conversation will trigger a contribution to your selected charity.
Even though this is a marketing ploy to get more people to use “Windows Live Messenger” I support any effort of a company that donates a significant sum of money to worthy causes.

I wonder how much their donating per IM…
Hahahaha
Cant you just wait till some bored hacker at a college will use the computer lab over night and set up a huge DOS type IM script that will send billions of IMs an hour?
It will bankrupt microsoft
I think this is ridiculous. Microsoft will give .00001 CENT per IM probably. can anyone get some real data please ?

Does Microsoft ever give to anyone that is not on their list of charities they already donate too? My father was the founding pastor of our church. Eight weeks before the new sanctuary was completed, my dad passed away. The church has been through so much since this time. The church is an independant entity and does not belong to any organization that provides any financial support. The congregation has gone from 250 when dad was alive down to 30. The people that attend are wonderful people, theu just do not have a lot of money. My mom was just diagnosed with cancer. She has one dream. She would like to see the mortgage on the church paid off before she leaves this world. This was a lifetime of work for her any my father and she feels like this would be the last thing she could do for the church. The payments are $800/mo and they struggle to make this payment. The Pastor doesn’t even ask for any salary from the church. The balance of their loan is $18,000.00. Do you ever make donations to religious organizations who are in need o assistance? This would make my mom’s dream come true and give the loyal congregation a chance for the burden of the monthly payments to be lifted and they could take the money they are struggling to use for the mortgage payment and begin to build up their account, so if other expenses come along it owuld not be such a hardship for them. If you do not help entities such as our church, do you know anyone who does? We would appreciate any assistance you could lend in this endeavor.
God Bless You!
