The AppleTV OS Running on a MacBook

No Instructions as of yet, but they are sure to follow!
Funny I can see the dock pop up at 33 seconds. I wasn’t aware the AppleTV had a dock.
Copy the harddrive of the Apple TV onto a USB drive. Plug in USB drive. Boot with alt key. Chose USB drive. I think that’s all there is to it!
Jon I think you are overlooking what is done here. ON the Apple TV there is no Mac OS boot screen. I think this guy more or less customized a regular OSX install with the APple TV binaries and launch scripts rather than simply booting into Apple OS from a Simple target mode boot.
Then again I could be mistaking, but that Mac OS boot screen kinda give it away
I’m presuming the Apple TV software is Intel? I have an old dual-G4 working as a media centre, and it would be awesome to get it running some sort of decent interface.
I don’t want to sound rude but both of you are wrong, first of all USB is NOT supported by the Apple TV’s EFI (some IO kext is missing or is not compatible) so you can’t just copy the content of the HDD.
First of all you must fix the permissions, bless (not literally) the EFI so it can boot and insert some kexts into the system core.
Nevertheless you can boot on Single User Mode in USB because the kernel is not yet loaded.
And whats with the clicking?
Maybe they have recorded a session of the Apple TV, set it to play fullscreen as a start up item with Automater or Applescript then installed cloned the OS onto the USB hard disk and booted from it.
