Google throws in the towel, accepts change & goes colorful

New Google Start pages

Checking out the feeds, I noticed that Google has finally discovered the starkness of plain solid colors – white, grey, white.. – just isn’t cutting it anymore if they want to compete with the likes of Netvibes or Protopage. They’ve gone trendy with the addition of "themes"! Head on over to your Personalized start page and check out the new "Select your theme" link at the top right corner. At current, there are six themes to choose from with no option to upload your own background images – yet. Thanks to everyone who sent this in.

Doesn’t work for me?!? I don’t see anything on my personalized homepage pointing to themes!

It’s on top of the feed boxes, in the same row as the tabs, but I digress from my lamenting Google’s fall from grace.

Seems pretty nifty, I’m now using the “sweet dreams” theme which dynamically changes depending on the time of day. White was getting a bit boring and hard on the eyes anyway.

I love it. I actually been using Netvibes, but I think this might be the thing to make me change over back to Google Personalized start page (which I used before Netvibes)

I am using Bus Stop, which also dynamically changes with the weather, so if it is windy, the people in the picture will be almost blown away, haha!!!

Sounds like Google won your hearts back with the simple animated header images…

Now i just need a Hentai theme for mine. Or maybe the anime imac chick .

  7. Myke says:

Yeah I gotta applaud this change. Looks a lot better.

  8. Don Wilson says:

    And I love it.

  9. Tensenki says:

No love for Canadians. :( I’d switch to .com to .ca, but then I wouldn’t understand what my temperature gadgets were saying. Would you guys switch to metric like the rest of the world?

  10. Don Wilson says:

    Fahrenheit is more accurate. =)

  11. Jerry says:

Whatever. The reason I went to Google years ago was it was plain and simple, to the point. No fluff, no BS. Just a box to type my search & GO!

  12. Masta' B says:

I love the themes! I’m using the city scape one, and it changes as well…very cool!
