Dell Creating Their Own Cellphone?
Dell recently acquired Motorolas head of its cellphone division making some people wonder what exactly the Round Rock Texas company is up to.
It has been widely speculated that Dell is looking to revamp their often forgotten Axim line and taking a page from Apple’s book, it is rumored that this revamped Axim would have both large memory capacities and cellphone functionality. Wonder if it would be more successful then their failed MP3 venture.

I’m sure it will be a cheap version of the iPAQ, or something like that.
According to the admin over at aximsite.com, this rumor is not true. Kind of sad, as I’m very pleased with my Axim 51v. Also sad that the Axim is officially dead, with no plans to revive the line.

sad story.
the 51v is a very nice machine, great connectivity and reasonable price.
ok, battery life could be better but thats about it.
i always thought the axim product line had great potential.
Well… Dell doesnt make its own products, it assembles premade components, and being that Dell stays away from anything that isn’t mainstream, and the money to be made in cell phones is in contracts, and Dell deals direct, unless I start seeing Dell branded cell towers, I doubt they are exploring the idea. I`d like to be wrong if I could get a smartphone with a Dell pricetag, that is of the quality of the Dell monitor I`m viewing this on… My Motorolla Q is a fancy POS that I stopped using as anything more than a base for my BT calls.
