Satoru Iwata – The vision behind the Wii
Curious to about the interactions & discussions that took place during the development of the Nintendo Wii? Satoru Iwata breaks it down offering a dedicated page which outlines the process of creating a such a tiny console which packs so much fun.
Hello, everyone. My name is Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo Co., Ltd. Starting from today, I’d like to deliver a unique (perhaps unprecedented) series of interviews explaining the vision behind Wii, our revolutionary new console. Over the course of the next few weeks we will hear from those who were actually involved in the development of this console. Given that I will interview my own employees, this is a somewhat peculiar experiment. Nevertheless, by talking face-to-face with the developers, I wish to record for posterity the course that led to the creation of Wii, and the background behind its development. There are many things that only they will be able to recount. I hope you enjoy it.
Speaking of Wii’s, did everyone catch Dan’s announcement of the winners? I still can’t believe how the console can be such a hot item still.

It’s full of subtle hints about the PS3. One question: Do all Japanese game developers wear glasses?
I had my first go on a Wii today. Played the Wii sports, round my friends, with a couple of mates. I have never had so much fun at a multiplayer game.
I honestly think that the innovation behind the Wii controller is revolutionary, and I see all consoles adapting to this in the future. I will be buying one as soon as i have the money (being in the UK, i wasnt allowed to enter your competition), though this may take time, being a struggling student, will probably have to wait to get my deposit back on my flat at the end of the year.
Hello, and thank you and Nintendo for all the games and fun you have given me over many years. I am very upset. I want a Wii and can not find one to purchase or order from any web site. How long is this goin to go on? If you are not lucky enough to be in a store when a shipment arrives you can not purchase a wii. I have waited in lines at 5:00AM traveled to every store that distributes the wii on many week ends.
I am 52 and I have played nintendo and most particularly the Zelda series for as long as I can remember.
If you can not help me can you explain why it is so impossible to purchase a wii. I live in Tallahassee, Florida USA
Thanks for your time.
