Tide is the official soap of the Palm Beach Fire Department. Not a bad plug, but in an effort to save some money Palm Beach county switched the official detergent of the fire department to “Blue Wave Ultra”, which would save the county $4,000 a year. That switch was enough to cause the firefighters union to file an official grievance. The union states that contractually the firefighters are entitled to “a high quality soap” which “Blue Wave Ultra” isn’t.

Nothing like making a big stink about soap! (Forgive the LAME joke)

    I saw give the firefighters whatever they want. They’re jumping through burning houses snatching up kids and cats along the way. The least the county could do is fulfill their request for some extra freshness with their laundry. How pathetic for a county to try and cut $4000 from its annual costs..

    when my place went up, I had to save the 5 kittens and 2 cats, with black melting wires on dripping on my back, while i was NAKED, only had a towel trying to hold on wading through black smoke. Fire fighters are over paid and over appreciated. Worthless jokes living off of 9/11. I will never respect a firefighter.

    that 4000 can buy new computers for a school every year. can do alot with that 4000 bucks. feed homeless. fire fighters cant buy their own soap or use the off brand? i bet there is rampant homosexuality goin on none the less in there, not that theirs anything wrong with that, but have you ever called a fireman a homosexual? he will go into a rage , proving his stance on the issue.

    I was very careful not to assert my opinion in the post and I still plead the 5th

    Rampant homosexuality? Come on Cynic… You have to admit to admit that that statement was a little much.

    @CYNIC821

    First, how many computer is $4000 going to buy. 4 setups max.

    Second, what is the matter with you? I bet you’d never be willing to do the things we do for complete strangers. I’m a volly, no paid. No amount of money can really justify risking your life 24/7 for complete strangers. Just think about it. You could be sitting at home reading this blog and then 15 minutes later you’re trapped in someones basement because the house just collapsed on you.

    Get a life dude.
