NP – I am Running Core 6 as well. I dabbled in Ubuntu, but found Core 6 more widely accepted. For me an Apple is a great fit because I can run ANY OS I want, so I like the freedom of choice!

Agreed Myles. I toted a PC for years, and run one full time in conjunction with my Mac. I have a Linux box too :)

I wasn’t trying to come off like that in any way. All I was saying was that I find that there is nothing special about Macs, yet I see nothing wrong with them (need I say, it’s my opinion). Anyone with a brain stem knows it’s all preference. Again, I was never assuming anything for ALL Mac owners, that would be the dumbest thing I could do. I just thought it was implied.

Oh, software wise, everything but my operating system was free (all legal). As for Mac, there are also alternatives.

Myles, do you realize that people have different tastes? For instance, you may hate iTunes, but I happen to adore it and would take that over the NEW Windows Media Player anyday. Not sure what version they’re on now. But yeah… not everyone who buys a Mac is in it for the look. I’m in it for the feel. I love the ease of everything, and the abundance of interesting software not made by people who want to suck me dry of money. I know there is that on a PC, but I just dislike that experience. I have Windows XP Professional on my mac as well, so it’s not like I’m in want of getting away from that completely. As for the hardware, I love how everything fits together without the need of a tower. I didn’t want a laptop, so iMac was the way to go. But… I just HATE how people assume all these things about Mac owners. I would gladly tell people about my computer, but would say the pluses for other things as well. They don’t have to switch. It’s not better for everyone to switch. It’s just… different.

Myles – We consider ourselves OS agnostic. I use a Mac in my daily grind, so I am more inclined to publish more tips for the machine I use.

Aside from the article, thank God this isn’t another ’switch to Mac’ post/comment that I’m seeing on most websites. Yes, we all know that Windows XP works just fine, and that Vista isn’t the all-powerful operating system that Microsoft claims it to be, but give it a break.

I’m probably going into deep waters here because I’d consider this a Mac/general technology blog, but I don’t understand the fuss that people make over Macs. Unless people like paying for over-priced hardware I’m pretty sure they’re in it for the Mac “look.” In the last few years Apple has designed some great looking products, but some of their hyped software sucks (iTunes, iMovie, etc).

I have nothing against Apple/Mac, but I’m tired of how people think they’re entitled to something “special” when the talk about switching (side note: more expensive doesn’t always mean better hardware).
