Verizon rejected Apple and the iPhone

This site is not responsible for any misunderstanding.Apparently Verizon Wireless balked at the idea of partnering with Apple giving the fruity company reign over its potential iPhone customer base. Everyone gritting their teeth because they’ll need to jump ship and join Cingular’s ranks in order to enjoy the iPhone should know that Verizon was on the table at one point.
Verizon Wireless, the No. 2 U.S. cellphone carrier, passed on the chance to be the exclusive distributor of the iPhone almost two years ago, balking at Apple’s rich financial terms and other demands.
Among other things, Apple wanted a percentage of the monthly cellphone fees, say over how and where iPhones could be sold and control of the relationship with iPhone customers, said Jim Gerace, a Verizon Wireless vice president. “We said no. We have nothing bad to say about the Apple iPhone. We just couldn’t reach a deal that was mutually beneficial.”
Here’s insight to the fact that the iPhone could’ve have been locked to CDMA carriers during its initial release had Verizon jumped into bed with Jobs.

Still, Verizon is foolish for turning down the iPhone… Apple has been cranking out nothing but homeruns lately.. If I were Sprint I’d be on the phone with Apple right away.

Nothing much new that isn’t in the article, except to confirm it & say that this is one instance where he is happy Verizon is NOT the first to market w/ this device.
Well, I’m dropping Verizon and switching to Cingular/AT&T (whatever they call themselves)
As a Verizon customer, I’m not too happy about this. I prefer Verizon’s network, but I will still be switching to Cingular in June.
I am a Verizonwireless customer. Yes the Iphone is nice but what exactly the the Iphone have that a Verizon phone can’t benefit you? I had to really breakdown in what I wanted in a phone. With my phone I have a keyboard for texting, a navigation system, live tv & mp3 player & a carrier with in store technicians so I’m happy.
