This site is not responsible for any misunderstanding. It has just been been discovered that Apple has been in a lawsuit by the Quantum Research Group who claims that the technology used to make the iPod’s “Click Wheel” infringes on a touch sensor patent it holds.
Quantum’s CEO Hal Philipp also made the point to mention that “[he is] hoping iPhone does not contain Quantum-patented charge-transfer technology.” The legal jockeying started in December 2005, but has managed to remain a secret.
Apple’s response to the legal action was that they deny all allegations and filed a counterclaim against Quantum, since they license the Click Wheel technology from Synaptics, which does not infringe Quantum’s patents.
