Someone is adding a little softness to Seattle

Posted in Random by Derek at 8:47 pm

Whoever knits these is awesome, originally uploaded by xaotica.

Apparently someone - with an obvious knack for knitting - is adding a little color and softness to the streets of Seattle. The image above is a sample of a little warmth for a bike rack on Capital Hill (Seattle). SImilar pieces are being wrapped around telephone poles and signs. I guess it’s time to take into consideration that fixed signs and poles might get a little cold in the drizzle?

  1. I love this, but it has to be said: how is this different from graffiti?

  2. I don’t feel warm when I see graffiti.

  3. if the person had a permit to do this, this is cool (although its too fruity for me, i rather it be black or blue)

but if this was done without permission, i would consider this vandalism

  4. You must have missed the knitting exhibit at Bumbershoot ‘06… they had been all around Seattle doing stuff like this.. one even knitted up the jimi hendix statue.

Some of them are at this site…

  5. I’d rather see this type of knitting on random bike racks or poles than see smokers flicking their filters wherever they please.

  6. SMASH!!!!
