Was this our future of high-speed locomotion?

Jet powered & other futuristic looking trains. Was this how train travel was meant to be? The above image depicts the usage of two GE J-47-19 jet engines created for the B-36 intercontinental bomber.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I think I would have passed on the if someone offered tickets to take a ride on such a train. If anything, shouldn’t the engines be positioned closer to the ground in order keep the train down on the ground?
The Jet Engine do not provide lift of any sort, only thrust. The train doesn’t have wings… so it won’t fly.
Are you trying to tell me that these jet engines would keep the train planted to the tracks at ALL times?
With all due respect Derek, I think are making a logically fallacious assumption. Just because the jet engines won’t active KEEP the train planted on the ground, that doesn’t mean that it will cause the train to lift. However, if the angle of mount were to change, and the force was directed downwards, then yes, life would be provided…however the actual location of the engines makes no difference.
As Erik correctly stated, no lift is provided by the jet engines, and as such, the train will not lift off the ground.
However, I would assume you do correctly state that most likely the jet engines should be towards the bottom, if merely to lower the center of gravity, so it won’t flip.
Planes fly not because of the thrust, but because of the lift caused by the wings.
Obviously wings provide the lift, not engines. I made the mistake of failing to clearly state that the reason why I believe the engines should be mounted lower maintaining the low center of gravity. I imagine doing that would create a whole new set of problems as obstructions around the sides of tracks would surely find their way into the engines (intake).
how the front of the locomotive looks it should stay on the ground and with some load on the back i’m sure that at a broken brige will not pass from one side to the other by air.

The average locomotive engine weighs around 135 tons. Even two of those jet boosters couldn’t hope to lift 10% of the weight of the engine alone, much less an entire train.
