At CES, there were more toys then you could shake a stick at, but one has always stuck in my mind. How many times do you go into a parking lot and hear somebody car alarm blasting and nobody reacting? It has come to a point where alarms are just plain useless. Cell Start hopes to change that.

It takes the traditional security system to a new level with cellular technology, by utalizing keyless access with remote start and alarm system monitoring. The Cell Start is small product that requires a 10 minute installation in your car and needs to be tied into a Shelby (CS750R and CS550R), Alert (750R and 550R) or Bulldog (Deluxe 500) two-way remote start system. It operates on the Cingular GSM network by sending SMS (Text) messages to your phone (regardless of network) whenever an event occurs.

Monthly pricing for the unit starts at $1 an incident. Although the requirements for an existing starter are kinda slim, I would be more then excited to see this system developed more to work with existing manufacturer installed alarm systems.

It is a great start for a promising technology, to give peace of mind wether you are on vacation or in the mall if you car alarm went off.

I want to marry this product.

It is below -1*F out (-19ish*C). This would be awesome when I need to start my car.. To go ANYWHERE..

$1 an incident? So every time someone walks to close to your car, you get charged $1?

I like the remote starting though, pretty cool. Just not a car alarm fan. (Noone cares about my ‘95 S10 Blazer)

Or your ‘90 Camry that’s blaring the alarm every 10 minues…..

wondering if children will explore the system, and fill your garage with smoke by the morning.. :D
