I don’t know how everyone else felt, but I always thought that the pickings were slim when it came to movies via the iTunes Music Store. Forunately, and according to The Wall Street Journal, Viacom may offer older movie titles via Apple’s online music & movie store.

Apple Computer Inc.’s iTunes movie service is set to bulk up with the addition of catalog movie titles owned by Viacom Inc.’s Paramount Pictures.

In a deal that Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs could announce as early as Tuesday at his Macworld conference, Apple plans to start selling Paramount titles on its iTunes service, according to people familiar with the situation.

For the moment, the deal will only cover Paramount’s back catalog, the people said. Paramount’s catalog includes titles such as “Forrest Gump,” “Mission: Impossible” and “The Truman Show.”

The WSJ preview link can be found here. Can’t forget about services like Bugmenot.

UPDATE: Via Macworld Live, Paramount has joined the iTunes Music Store family.

Try living in the UK. We have 6 Pixar shorts (at a couple of minutes each), that’s the extent of our movie collection. It annoys me so much, i really want movies.

Why would anyone re-purchase movies through itunes? Just burn your dvd’s on their you own them.
