This fabric, developed for $20 million by the military (like most other technology), is designed to kill bacteria and force liquids to bead and run off. Originally intended to protect soldiers from biological weapons, but the fabric was gobbled up by the garment industry.
Textile makers treated underwear for soldiers who tested them for several weeks and found they remained hygienic, and also helped clear up some skin complaints. No plans for this material to hit store shelves soon, but think of the potential benefits for college students who hate laundry!
