Parasite said to make women chase men

Found in raw or undecooked meats, the parasite is also harmful to women who may be pregnant causing disability or miscarriages.
A common parasite can increase a women’s attractiveness to the opposite sex but also make men more stupid, an Australian researcher says. About 40 per cent of the world’s population is infected with Toxoplasma gondii, including about eight million Australians. Human infection generally occurs when people eat raw or undercooked meat that has cysts containing the parasite, or accidentally ingest some of the parasite’s eggs excreted by an infected cat.

Yeah. I took parasitology in college. It’s true. However, the meat that they eat is from animals like squirrels and other things that eat cat shit. A cow doesn’t eat cat shit, so eating the meat from a cow won’t give you toxo. However, eating the cat shit can be harmful to humans. For example, if you change the litter without washing your hands afterwards, and you touch your mouth with the same hand later in the day, the eggs will travel through your digestive tract and enter your blood stream. Normally, the parasite just travels to a muscle and goes dormant, creating very minor muscle ache. However, if a women, with the dormant egg in her muscle, gets pregnant, the hormone change wakes up the egg, and the egg travels through the blood stream to the placenta, where it crosses the trans-placental membrane and lodges itself in the fetus’s brain. This kills the fetus.
So… Wash your hands after changing the litter, and don’t let women change the litter if she wants to have any children afterward. However, this is not a pretty form of birthcontrol. The fetus spontaneously aborts and is very messy and painful for the mother.
I just read the article. Maybe I should have done that first. Ha. Anyway, it seems to imply that the egg (oocyte) can sometimes go to adult brains as well as muscle tissue. That changing personality is the result of damage to the brain that the egg can cause as well as the damage the body’s own immune system does to the area around the parasite. This is the same personality change that happened to the guy that had a metal rail-spike driven through his forebrain and lived. When the forebrain is damaged, people loose their ability to inhibit their thoughts and actions. (I don’t know what this says about free will and personal responsibility. I don’t think this is the place for that discussion. If you want to discuss that, look over to Scott Adams’ blog.)
So make doubly sure to wash your hands after you change the litter.
I also know that a similar kind of parasite is in racoon shit, so if you let little johnny play in the back yard, make sure there are no racoons shitting anywhere near the sandbox, and also don’t let him eat dirt, because racoons might have shitted in that dirt years ago. Those eggs (oocytes) last up to twenty years in the dirt.
So, no eating dirt, and be sure to wash your hands.
OK. One more… There are really two ways one can be infected. If one eats meat that was infected, say from a mouse or a squirrel or something that ate cat shit (not a cow), that person gets the parasite at the point in the life cycle in which the parasite lives in the intestine and just makes oocytes. This is what makes women thin, because the parasite takes nutrients from food and deny the women the nutrients, so she feels full but donates her food to the parasite.
Or, you can eat the shit (feces) of the cat, like the article says. This is the part in the lifecylce in which the egg travels throughout the circulatory system and parks itself in either muscle or brain. This makes the men “alley cats” or less inhibited and the women “sex kittens” or less inhibited, caused by brain damage.
I really like this stuff. I just want to try to make it clear for everyone so that they can enjoy the awesomeness of the lifecyle of the parasite.
