Apple has officially launched its Dashcode Developer Beta for, you guessed it, Dashboard widget developers. The 19.4 MB disk image can be downloaded direct through the Developer Connection. You’ll need to register your Apple ID if you want to download this beta.

This is a developer beta release of Dashcode, a new application for creating powerful Dashboard widgets coming in Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). This beta release has been scaled back to be compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) in order to get feedback from a broad range of users. Dashcode will only be released officially as part of Mac OS X 10.5. This beta release will cease to function on July 15, 2007.

The Dashboard Developer can be found in the download section once you’ve signed into the network. For anyone who may wonder where the developer tool is installed, look within /Developer/Applications.

Hah. I remember when I got the leaked version a long time ago. The one with only 3 templates: Custom, Countdown, and Blog Viewer.

Actually, I still have it! Schweet!
