What would you do if the sun never rose high enough during the winter time? Would you bundle up and call it a day waiting patiently for Spring to roll around? Or, would you do something about it?

One small town located in a valley at the base of th Alps decided their little town needed a little more sunshine. What did they do? They built a 30 ft. mirror atop a mountain to reflect sunshine into their valley.

Yeah, I can’t see this turning out bad somehow. Oops we forgot to take it off during this dry spell and now the town is fried!

This reminds me of the episode in Futurama where they built a big mirror and it tipped and started burning the convention.

I wonder what its like trying to get a tan… I can imagine 40 people crammed into a glowing square in the middle of a street laying on towels or something getting up and moving every 15 minutes

I heard about this a year or two back. No, the mirror wouldn’t make a square… it’d diffuse the light evenly on the town.
