Want an even faster Photoshop CS3?

Intel Core Duo, Core 2 Duo, or Xeon users yearning for even faster Photoshop CS3 startups times? Check out the previously mentioned XSlimmer utility which will cut the Universal Binary fat right out of the application. Drop that 246 MB installed figure down to 147 MB. No noticeable side effects to trimming the PPC parts out of the application. Cold startup time on a 2.66 Mac Pro clocked in at about 2 seconds while the MacBook Pro completed in a respectable 4-one-thousand… Yes, my technologically advanced one one thousand, two one thousand, three one thousand timing system.

wow, I did that on a macbook and now it is dam fast
Does anyone know the recommended system requirements for running the CS3 on a old skool power pc g4 laptop? thanks,.
* PowerPC G4 or G5 or Intel based Macintosh processor
* Mac OS X v.10.4.8
* 320MB of RAM (512MB recommended)
* 64MB of video RAM
* 1.5GB of available hard-disk space
* 1,024×768 monitor resolution with 16-bit video card
* DVD-ROM drive
* Internet or phone connection required for product activation
* QuickTime 7 software required for multimedia features
Caution, I believe this will mean you cannot use plugins which have not been ported to universal. There is an option within the about menu I read to revert CS3 into PPC. I’m a PC user awaiting my computer to crash so I get that excuse for a MacBook.
how do i do it. i dont understand :S im running on windows xp on a modern hp laptop
Tim, the utility is for OS X users. The Windows release is leaner than the OS X release which packs the PPC and Intel binaries into a single install. XSlimmer simply removes the PPC counterparts for Intel Mac users.
This is a little off topic, but I also notice XSlimmer shades off a few seconds of Software Update too, just fyi. :)
