As predicted Adobe today announced that on Friday morning they will release a beta version Adobe Photoshop. Adobe is typically tight lipped about product launch dates and features before their launch, but only recently giving us mere mortals a peak behind the curtain.

Photoshop CS3 reportedly brings major enhancements to the Adobe Bridge file browsing system (Never used it). Here is the catch, this beta will only be available to users of Photoshop CS2 with a valid license key, and the Universal Binary will require a G4 (1GHz or higher), G5, or Intel processor with at least 512MB of RAM.

No word yet on when the beta will expire, but I’m sure it will be announce tomorrow.

UPDATE: It seems that Adobe has staged the downloads

“A licensed copy of Photoshop CS2, Creative Suite 2, Production Studio, Adobe Web Bundle, or Adobe Video Bundle is required to use this technology beyond a two-day trial period. After installation you will be prompted to enter a CS3 beta serial number for Photoshop. To obtain a beta serial number, visit www.adobe.com/go/photoshopcs3beta_serialnumber and enter your CS2 serial number. Although the beta is available only in English, all language versions of Photoshop and the products mentioned above qualify to participate.”

Here are the direct download links, but be reminded you need a serial number to use the beta.

I was at a photoshop conference with Bert (if you know photoshop, you know Bert) and he actually said he was beta testing 4 and basically playing with alpha of CS4 … apparently according to him, CS 4 is going to CHANGE THE WAY people use photoshop, and revolutionize the industry.
