Could Apple go all MVNO on us?
A recent post concerning the the idea of Apple creating its own MVNO service, similar to Virgin Mobile or Helio, makes a little sense. Right?
We mentioned briefly a couple months ago the idea that Apple might start up its own MVNO, like Helio or Virgin Mobile, to have more control over the total user experience than would be possible under an “unlocked” strategy.
TelecomsKorea agrees with us. In fact, it’s naming Helio as a possible casualty of such a plan, as Helio markets itself towards the same demographic as Apple: Young, hip, and with disposable income, people willing to pay for the lifestyle the brand affords.
Could Apple go MVNO on us? Offering its own unique idea of the “wireless experience” if and when (if being key) an iPhone actually materializes and hits the shelves. Offer a solid handset and a service which is custom tailored and integrated with .Mac? Sounds like something that might turn some heads.

No
Yes Apple would do that, and it would be cool. At least I think so.
Given Apple’s (read: Jobs) obsession with control over the entire user experience, I could see why MVNO would be a plausible option for them, especially after their experience with Motorola and the ROKR.
I’m with adam on this one although it upsets me because I was really looking forward to the iphone on vzw
Adam’s point is one that I share as well. Apple is all about control and keeping their devoted customers nice and chipper. What better way than to have that iPhone sync menu option nestled nicely within iSync?
