Skype Announces New Skype Unlimited Calling Plan. That’s right, the rumors where true. After Skype announced that all outgoing calls would be free within the continental US earlier this year, users wondered what would happen once the promo deal ended. It looks like the question has been answered.

The Skype Unlimited Calling plan is available for a flat rate of $29.95 per year. People who sign up for the new plan before January 31, 2007 will receive a special discounted introductory rate of $14.95 per year – 50 percent off the regular price. While Skype to Skype calls will remain free, the new Skype Unlimited Calling plan is an easier and cheaper way for our growing number of SkypeOut users to stay in touch with friends and family over any phone line. Consumers can also choose SkypeOut’s pay-per-minute offering.

I’ve dropped my $15 for a year of unlimited SkypeOut. Are you going to start using the service for your outgoing calls at home?

I told myself I’d drop it if they started to charge, but @ 14.95 why not? I’m signing up today.

Free was great, but $15 or $30, however you sign up, will pay for itself in no time.

Has anyone released any cool new Skype phones lately? (that are affordable anyway) I want a cordless with some range and minimal display, just like a standard cordless.

  6. I doubt they’ll let me call danish phones any time soon, but I sure hope so.. I’m sure that would have an effect on conventional phone companies and their prices.. Both landline and mobile..
