Previously, little else was relied on aside from Chris Pederick’s Web Developer Firefox add-on. The basic web developer browser toolbar offered a great selection of options for inspecting any currently viewed website. Additionally, web developers enjoyed the convenience of being able to edit stylesheets live without having to download, edit, and re-upload files. Web Developer was then, FireBug is now.

Joe Hewitt’s FireBug Firefox extension epitomizes the idea of a supplemental tool for web development on any platform using the Firefox browser.

FireBug lets you explore the far corners of the DOM by keyboard or mouse. All of the tools you need to poke, prod, and monitor your JavaScript, CSS, HTML and Ajax are brought together into one seamless experience, including a debugger, error console, command line, and a variety of fun inspectors.

If you’re a casual internet browser interested in seeing what makes a web page tick, or a daily developer, install a copy of FireBug pronto in order to experience the internet from a completely different perspective.
